FEELS GOOD TO BE HOME

Upon returning home from Seoul, I ran into some of my students at a convenience store next to the bus stop in Ochang. They scurried about their way after a quick, “Hello”. So cute!

It feels good to be known. To be surrounded by familiarity.

At the traffic light I stopped next to my Taekwondo Master in his brightly colored van. We waved and bowed our greeting, and then awkwardly stared at each other until the light changed. Korea has really long stoplights.

This is my home, what surrounds my now. I am fortunate to be a part of this little Korean community. People are home to me. Not place. It feels good to be at home.
