Myeongdong shopping district at night in Seoul, South Korea.

It was nice to spend a long weekend in Seoul. I met up with wonderful friends, had a few dates, danced a bit, and ate plenty of fried food. The usual. But, what wasn’t normal about this visit was my overwhelming desire to move to Seoul. I feel like I’m caught in a bad romance, in an ongoing love affair with Korea’s capital.

Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah-ah! Roma-roma-mamaa!

Even though I frequently visit the megacity, I haven’t wanted to live or work there. I’m thankful for my smaller community, for my school, and for the opportunities I have in Chungbuk Province. But something kind of clicked inside me over the past few days, and a move to Seoul feels more right than ever.

It’s not official. Just an idea. Something I’m itching to do. An option I’ll no longer disregard. I think I’ll spend a second year at my school no matter what, and then decide what to do/where to go for a third year in Korea. Seoul would be the perfect fit in so many ways, but a bad, bad romance in so many others.

Ga-ga-ooh-la-la! Want your bad romance.

Thank you for the inspiration, Lady Gaga.
