Chase and Rina's "locks of love" at Namsan Seoul Tower in Seoul, South Korea.

The brown sugar was left on the lowest shelf of the cupboard where Rina could reach if for her coffee. A tiny amount of wine was still left in our glasses from the night before. Long, dark hair could be found throughout my apartment. Everything was so quiet, and I was alone for the first time in a week.

I still can’t believe she even came. My own little El Salvadoran (lover) was right here, in Korea, all the way from LA. To be able to share a place so special to me, with a person so dear to my heart meant so much.

We danced (a lot). We made pupusas (twice). We sang (well, I did). We fought (like a married couple). We practiced Sunmudo (Korean Buddhist Martial Art), and bowed 108 times (for enlightenment). It was an incredible week!

With Rina when she first arrived in Korea. February, 2012.
I’ll be picking up pieces of our time together for many days to come. Little memories of moments shared scattered about my place. From the jungles of Guyana, South America, to the “Soul of Asia”, our friendship spans the globe. I can’t wait for our next adventure! Where will it be?

Thanks for visiting, Rina. You mean the world to me.
