SUJI'S

Suji's Brunch in Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea.

A long line of people willing to wait for a meal at a particular restaurant is usually a testament to great food and service. At least that’s true for Suji’s New York Style Restaurant and Bar in Itaewon, Seoul.

I’ve been to Suji’s a couple of times. It’s best to go early, as the place is relatively small, and fills up quickly. The first time I went I had to wait awhile. But, the wait was definitely worth it.

The second time I visited, we were seated right away. And even though a line had formed during our time there, we never felt rushed to get out. Instead, we were welcomed to stay and chat with endless amounts of delicious coffee.

Price is a little bit more expensive than other places I’ve been to in Seoul, but not unreasonable for what you get. Staff is very kind and attentive. The interior is quaint. A little dusty if you look closely, but don’t let that take away from its charm and flavor.

I can’t remember what I had the first time. I think it was the Denver Omelet, which is one of Suji’s signature dishes. I was more interested in mimosas though. I definitely had some of those. That’s about all I can recall. I'm sure the Denver Omelet was amazing. If I had it.

Most recently, I tried several of the menu options including the Original Eggs Benedict, and french toast topped with fresh bananas and walnuts. I wasn’t disappointed by anything. I especially loved the breakfast potatoes. What can I say? I’m an easy man to please. Give me a plate of breakfast potatoes, a mimosa or seven, as well as a cup of bottomless drip coffee and I’m set.

As their saying goes, Suji’s is a great place to laugh out loud, share a good meal, and enjoy life. The food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is perfect for brunch.

Is it worthy of being the best? Perhaps. But, my quest for the best brunch in Seoul and throughout Korea must continue before I can choose. Otherwise, this blog would end after just three posts, and I'd have nothing else to do with my life.

Itaewon Station, Line 6, Exit 4 – Walk straight toward Noksapyeong Station on the left side of the street. Go all the way to the end of the road, just past McDonald's. It's in the corner building on the second floor.
